NEW HAVEN, Conn- The Bulldogs wrapped up its successful weekend with a solid 5-2 win against the Boston University Terriers and improved to 3-0 on the young season.
Samantha Martinelli, Amy Yang, and Elizabeth Zordani were all able to take care of business with straight-set victories. Yang's was a particularly interesting match, which saw her win a tight first set in a tiebreak before putting her foot on the gas to take the second set 6-0. Sunday Swett also won a pair of 6-4 sets in a tense matchup of No. 5 players. First-year Sarah Cameron found herself on the losing end of the best match of the day, ultimately losing two tiebreaks in a tightly contested match. Despite the loss, she showed grit and a fighting spirit.
Yale was also able to claim the double point, winning 2 out of the 3 matches. Martinelli and Zordani first won their match handily, 6-0, before Mimi Levine and Caroline Amos fell in a tight 6-4 set. With the double point on the line, Swett and Yang won the rubber match by a double break, 6-2, to clinch the victory for the home team.
The Bulldogs will resume play on Friday, February 9th at the ECAC Division 1 Indoor Championship, two weekends from today.
