Frances Arnautou Named Candidate for National Award

Reigning Ivy Player of the Year Among Nationwide List of 30 Student-Athletes

Frances Arnautou has been named a candidate for the 2019 CLASS Award.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Yale senior setter Frances Arnautou has been named a candidate for a prestigious collegiate volleyball national award.

The reigning Ivy League Player of the Year, Arnautou is one of 30 candidates for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate volleyball.  Arnautou was the only Ivy League student-athlete chosen among the 30 candidates.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.  View the full list of candidates here.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.  The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot.

The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2019 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship in December.

A San Francisco native, Arnautou has averaged 9.22 assists, 2.11 digs and produced a total of 32 kills and 11 service aces in Yale's first 10 matches, which include four opponents from Power 5 conferences.  The Bulldogs have won five in a row and host Harvard and Dartmouth this weekend.
