PHILADELPHIA – A pair of fourth-quarter goals lifted Penn past Yale in field hockey at Vagelos Field Saturday afternoon.
Yale (4-10, 1-4 Ivy League) took a quick lead on a goal by sophomore midfielder
Alissa Wong 1:07 in, but the Quakers tied the game late in the first quarter. Thanks to four first-half saves, the Bulldogs went into halftime with the score still 1-1 despite a 9-2 shot advantage and a 9-1 corner advantage for Penn in the half.
Penn (6-8, 3-2 Ivy League) went ahead on a penalty stroke goal at 40:47 by back Elita Van Staden, but the Bulldogs answered less than two minutes later when junior forward/midfielder
Olivia Levieux set up first-year forward
Lena Ansari for Ansari's second goal of the season. Levieux now has nine points (4-1-9) in Ivy League games this season.
The Quakers went ahead for good on a goal by back Laura Shelton with nine minutes left. Van Staden added another penalty stroke goal four minutes later to make the final 4-2.
Quakers goalie Ava Rosati, sister of Yale field hockey alum
