DeJardin Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

Reigning Ivy Rookie of the Year Honored for Success in Classroom

Ellis DeJardin was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Yale sophomore outside hitter and reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Year Ellis DeJardin earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team announced on Thursday.

The 2019 Academic All-District® Volleyball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

After a breakout rookie campaign, DeJardin this season ranks second on the team in digs and service aces, and third in kills on the Bulldogs, who enter the final weekend of the regular season in contention for a third straight league title.  DeJardin has a 4.00 GPA and majors in Psychology.

"I am so proud of Ellis," Yale head coach Erin Appleman said.  "She has distinguished herself on and off the court, and represents a true Ivy League student-athlete by getting it done in the classroom and on the volleyball floor."

Last season, DeJardin was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week five times and ranked second in kills per set on a Bulldogs team that won the Ivy League title and competed in the NCAA Tournament.  In conference play, she ranked seventh in kills per set, 12th in hitting percentage and 18th in digs per set en route to a All-Ivy First Team selection in her rookie season.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday to host first-place Princeton.
