Box Score NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Curtis Hall scored twice and four other Yale players found the net, while junior goalie Nicholas MacNab earned his first win in a 6-3 decision over St. Lawrence in ECAC Hockey action.
The Elis jumped on the board with an odd-man rush early in the contest. Luke Stevens made a perfect feed to Mitchell Smith for a one-timer that hit the pipe and bounced out. Stevens followed up the shot and found the rebound a few feet from the crease, slipping the puck past Daniel Mannella.
After the Saints evened things, Hall re-directed a Matt Foley shot from the point with 6:57 left in the first to give the home team a 2-1 lead. The sophomore forward was in the slot again in the third period getting his stick on a shot that found the net to grab the advantage again at 3-2. Hall's team-high fifth tally of the year came off a Billy Sweezey shot 6:59 into the final frame.
MacNab, making his first career start, made eight saves in the first, seven in the second and six in the last. The Indianapolis, Ind., native made enough stops in the third to allow his squad to grab a two-goal advantage with a Tyler Welsh empty-netter before the visitors got it back on their third goal with 2:17 left.
"It was a blast," said MacNab when asked about making his first start. "I've been waiting a long time for this. The boys were jacked up for me. I just went out there and had some fun while trying to stop some pucks."
The Saints pulled Mannella again, MacNab came up with a big stop and Kevin O'Neil potted an empty-netter with under a minute. Dante Palecco added the final tally into yet another empty net.
The Bulldogs are back at Ingalls Rink on Saturday night at 7 against No. 9 Clarkson.
