NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale women's swimming and diving team kicked off the 2019-20 season on Friday with a home opener against MIT. The team began its quest for a fourth consecutive undefeated season, beating MIT by a score of 168-74.

Yale took first place in both of the relays and six of the individual races, including four freestyle events. Junior
Claire O'Mara took first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.34. Senior
Kendall Brent won the 500-yard freestyle (5:00.17), and sophomore
Ashley Loomis won the 1000-yard freestyle (10:22.83). First-year
Ophelia Pilkinton won the first event of her collegiate career, finishing first in the 100-yard freestyle (51.18).Â

A pair of sophomores took first in non-freestyle events.
Raime Jones won the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.01), and
Izzi Henig paced all swimmers in the 100-yard butterfly (55.66).

Yale also won both diving events. Junior
Nikki Watters compiled the highest score in the 1-meter diving (244.88), and first-year
Samantha Ho won the 3-meter diving event (264.83).

Yale will look to continue success tomorrow. The Bulldogs host Brown in the Ivy League opener.
