Box Score SCHENECTADY, N.Y. –
Corbin Kaczperski stopped 62 of 63 shots to lead the Yale Men's Hockey Team to a conference weekend sweep and a four-point weekend on the road. The senior goalie notched 26 of those saves in a 2-0 win at Union tonight.
Junior
Tyler Welsh gave the Blue a 1-0 lead at 14:22 of the first when he took a feed from sophomore
Justin Pearson and fired a shot from the left circle that went through a
Curtis Hall screen and into the top of the net.
The visitors, who were unsuccessful scoring on a five-minute advantage early in the second frame, used that situation to wear down the Dutchmen enough to up the lead later with a
Luke Stevens tip-in. The senior forward got his stick on a rising slapshot from the point.
While Yale was taking control of the game at the offensive end, Kaczperski was making big saves in the other zone.
"It was a great weekend for our group," said
Keith Allain '80, Yale's Malcolm G. Chace Head Coach. "We really came together as a team and played outstanding hockey. Our goaltending and team defense made the difference for us."
Allain and the Bulldogs (4-7-0, 4-6-0 ECAC) are back in action on Tuesday night at 7 when the Maine Black Bears come to Ingalls Rink.
