Box Score SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Yale Women's Hockey Team has really spread out its scoring this season, and this weekend was a prime example. The Bulldogs won their fourth straight by getting goals from four different players - for a second consecutive game - in a 4-2 win over Union at Achilles Rink.
Yale, which earned four points the last two weekends, was outshot by the Dutchwomen (29-28), but the Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.
Sophomore Tabea Botthof got the Bulldogs (11-8, 7-4 ECAC) rolling with a shot from the high slot that found the net in the first period. Another second-year skater, Charlotte Welch, followed up with a rebound off a Grace Lee shot a little later to make the lead 2-0. Lee raced down the left side after a long pass and fired a shot off the goalie that bounced out to the right. Welch was crashing the net and beat a defender to the puck to bang it back home.
The home team got on the board before the first intermission, but the Elis added to the margin when a rookie skater notched her first career goal in the third period. Kiersten Goode, skating into the low slot looking for her first collegiate point, took a feed from classmate Elle Hartje and then hit the back of the net.
Senior Tera Hofmann earned her sixth win this season in the Yale net by making 27 saves. Sophomore Claire Dalton made sure Hofmann would get the win when she buried a wrist shot top shelf with 3:11 left in the third period.
The Bulldogs turn things around quickly with a home game on Tuesday night against conference travel partner Brown. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. on Yale Faculty/Staff Night.
