Game Notes for Yale
The Bulldogs have won four straight games since returning from a weekend set at Minnesota to start the new year. They have a chance to make it five Tuesday night at 7:30 when Brown comes to Ingalls for an ECAC Hockey game airing live on NESN and ESPN+.
BULLDOGS
Four different Yale players scored in both games for two different goalies as the Bulldogs, tied with Clarkson for fourth place in the ECAC, swept RPI (4-1) and Union (4-2) last weekend in New York. The top six scorers for Yale are either first or second-year players. A pair of rookies,
Kiersten Goode and
Sofie Zander, got their first collegiate points in the Capital District, highlighting the young and team-oriented offensive output. Sophomore
Claire Dalton led the team with two goals and three points over the weekend set. Junior
Gianna Meloni earned the win in net at RPI before senior
Tera Hofmann beat Union on Saturday. Tuesday is the front end of a home-and-home series with its travel partner. Game two is next Tuesday at Providence with the Elis looking to close the gap on third place. They are three points from a second-place tie with Harvard and Princeton.
BROWN
The Bears bring a 2-14-1(2-9-1 ECAC) record into New Haven looking for second straight win. Brown beat RPI 2-0 on Saturday to snap a four-game skid and give the Bears a second win over the Engineers this winter.
WHITE OUT COMING SOON
The annual Whiteout for Mandi Schwartz is February 1 at 3 p.m. when the Bulldogs take on Quinnipiac. This event celebrates the life and legacy of Mandi Schwartz, a Yale player who lost her battle to Leukemia on April 3, 2011. The game raises awareness for bone marrow donations through Be the Match and also supports the Mandi Schwartz Foundation. Mandi's brother, Jaden, and the St. Louis Blues, along with other NHL teams, have contributed to the Whiteout. The Blues even skated at the Whale a few years ago to help promote the event. The day includes a Be The Match table, special t-shirts and an auction and raffle with classic memorabilia. Please join us as we celebrate Mandi!
