Yale Falls to SHU in CT Ice

Bulldogs Get UConn on Sunday

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. Dante Palecco and Brett Jewell had goals and Nicholas MacNab stopped 18 of 20 shots, but the Yale Men's Hockey Team fell, 6-2, to Sacred Heart in the second semifinal of the 2020 CT Ice at Webster Bank Arena.

The Pioneers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first 15 minutes, which was enough to get them to the tournament's championship game at 7 p.m. against Quinnipiac, 3-2 winners over UConn in game one.

The Elis, who will meet UConn on Sunday in the consolation game at 3:30, cut the lead to 4-1 early in the second period when Palecco, a junior forward, one-timed a Will D'Orsi feed to the slot on the power play. It was the fourth goal of the season for Palecco, and it gave his squad brief hope for a comeback.

Senior Corbin Kaczperski got the start in net for Yale and had five saves over the first 15 minutes before MacNab, a junior, came on to slow down SHU, which ended up with a pair of power-play tallies on seven attempts.

Jewell, a sophomore center, scored a late power-play goal, which made the Bulldogs 2-for-8 on the night.
