Box Score MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. –
Gianna Meloni stopped 35 of 39 shots but the Yale Women's Hockey Team fell 4-1 to No. 2 Minnesota at Ridder Arena.
The Bulldogs (7-8-0) got a goal from sophomore forward
Charlotte Welch, her seventh of the year, and an assist from junior blueliner
Greta Skarzynski. The visitors did a great job overall on the weekend against the Gophers (17-1-3) with four goals combined.
The home team, which attempted 76 shots overall, had a 39-18 advantage in shots on goal and had tallies from three different skaters.
"Minnesota capitalized on two puck mistakes in the second period that hurt us today," said
Mark Bolding, Yale's Susan Cavanagh Head Coach. "We pushed back and made it interesting. Overall this weekend, we showed how the team is progressing with their game plan execution and compete level. Despite the losses here, we've got a lot of positives to pull from it."
Yale is back on the ice next weekend at New Haven when Clarkson and St. Lawrence come to Ingalls Rink for ECAC Hockey games at 6 and 3 p.m. respectively on ESPN+.
