Yale Earns ECAC Point with 2-2 Tie

Bulldogs Get Draw at St. Lawrence

Box Score

CANTON, N.Y. – Yale's first tie of the 2019-20 season came in the 21st game. The men's hockey team got goals from two players and 24 saves from senior goalie Corbin Kaczperski in a 2-2 overtime draw at St. Lawrence tonight.

The home team began the scoring but the visitors quickly drew even with a power-play tally by Justin Pearson. Jack St. Ivany put the puck on Pearson's stick on the left point and the sophomore forward skated to the top of the left circle before firing a shot through traffic and off the goalie's glove at 11:37 of the first period. That was Pearson's seventh goal of the year and second point of the weekend.

Kaczperski made a highlight-type, glove save in the waning seconds of the first period. He was steady all weekend, allowing just two goals in each game on the North Country trip.

Yale took a brief, third-period lead when Kevin O'Neil banged home a shot from the low slot. The Saints answered less than a minute later. The Elis, who had a power play at the end of regulation and for 51 seconds of overtime, outshot St. Lawrence 4-1 in the extra frame.

The Bulldogs are home next weekend to face No. 18 Quinnipiac and Princeton at Ingalls Rink, a pair of 7 p.m. games that air live on ESPN+.
