Game Notes for Yale

The last home regular-season weekend of Yale Women's Hockey brings two significant notes. It is the last regular-season games at the Whale for five seniors and there are four crucial points on the table. Colgate and No. 1 ranked Cornell come to New Haven on Friday and Saturday for 6 p.m. and 3 p.m. games that air live on ESPN+. Saturday is senior day for Yale players Tera Hofmann, Kirsten Nergaard, Saroya Tinker, Sophie Veronneau and captain Laura Anderson. It is also the day foam Yale pucks are given to all in attendance.

BULLDOGS
Yale enters the weekend in fifth place in the ECAC, three points behind fourth-place Harvard and two points ahead of Quinnipiac. The top eight squads make the conference tournament and the top four get a home series. The Bulldogs got two points in the North Country last week thanks to a shutout by Gianna Meloni and goals from Emma Seitz, Lucy Burton and Tess Dettling. The Elis, two shy of the school record for wins in a season, are one of three (1985-86, 2003-04) Yale teams to win as many as six straight, while it fell a game shy of the longest (5-0-2, 2004-05) unbeaten string.

LAST MEETING
The Bulldogs hope to avenge a pair of shutouts from last November in upstate New York. Colgate beat Yale 4-0 at Hamilton, while Cornell took a 6-0 game at Lynah Rink.

COLGATE
The Raiders (14-12-6, 8-7-3) come to New Haven in seventh place, a point behind Quinnipiac. They are coming off a road split with Dartmouth (4-2 win) and Harvard (4-3, loss) and are 1-1-2 over the last four.

CORNELL
The Big Red (21-1-3, 15-0-3) are unbeaten in conference play and own first place by four points heading into weekend and Friday's game at Brown. Cornell has an overall 15-game unbeaten streak that includes three straight wins, coming off a road sweep of Harvard (4-1) and Dartmouth (3-0). The only loss this season was a 3-1 game at Ohio State on Nov. 29.
