Yale Skates Past No. 10 Quinnipiac to Tie School Win Record

4-1 Win Gives Elis Most Conference Wins Ever

HAMDEN, Conn. – Four different Bulldogs found the net and Gianna Meloni stopped 23 of 24 shots as the Yale Women's Hockey team tied its program record for victories in a season with a 4-1 win over No. 10 Quinnipiac. The Elis also broke their record for conference wins in a season.

Yale (16-12, 13-8 ECAC) has secured the No. 5 spot for the upcoming conference playoffs no matter what happens in tomorrow's 3 p.m. game at Princeton. The Blue will face either Harvard or Clarkson in a best-of-three series on the road next weekend.

The Elis erased a 1-0 deficit in the second period with four straight. Just six minutes after the Bobcat goal, Claire Dalton raced down the wing and fired one past the goaltender to knot the game at one. Ten minutes later, Charlotte Welch found the back of the net to give Yale its first lead of the night and what would end up being the game-winning goal.

The Elis came out strong in the third and were rewarded for their efforts 6:40 in. Rebecca Vanstone, back from an injury that kept her out of the lineup last weekend, ripped a shot past the Quinnipiac goaltender to give her team a two-goal cushion. The visitors added to the margin after a hard-fought battle in front of the net. Rebecca Foggia banged home her second of the season to solidify the victory for the Bulldogs.
