NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale men's swimming and diving team travels to the campus of Harvard University for the Ivy League Championship this week. The event kicks off with the 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday the preliminaries begin at 11 a.m. followed by the finals at 6 p.m. ESPN+ has video starting with Thursday's preliminaries.
The Bulldogs are looking to improve on last year's fifth-place finish. Yale was 4-3 in Ivy dual meets this season.
The Bulldogs last competed in the annual HYP meet four weeks ago where Yale's 200 freestyle relay finished first and
Henry Gaissert won the 100 freestyle. In addition, the Bulldogs took the top two spots in the 3-meter diving.
Christian DeVol placed first and
Jean Paul Ditto was second.
Gaissert should be a contender in several events. He posted the Ivy League's second fastest time in the 100 free, the third fastest time in the 50 free and the fourth fastest time in the 50 backstroke.
Yale also had a strong performance in the 100 backstroke at the HYP meet.
Tyler Harmon finished second and
Greg Kalin was third.
Patrick Frith finished third in both the 100 and 200 butterfly, while
Philippe Marcoux was third in the 50 freestyle.
In addition,
Joseph Page placed second to Gaissert in the 100 free.
