Box Score NEW HAVEN, Conn. –
Corbin Kaczperski stopped 22 of 24 shots on target but did not get any hep at the other end of the rink as the Yale Men's Hockey Team fell to Union 3-0 in the first game of the best-of-three ECAC Playoff Series.
Kaczperski watched his teammates throw 31 shots on goal at Union's Darion Hanson, who survived plenty of grade-A scoring chances to record the shutout. Some of those came on five power-play attempts. The visitors, who scored a goal in each period, including an empty-netter in the third, also blocked 23 shots.
Yale's senior netminder had a few great stops, including robbing the Dutchmen midway through the game with a sprawling glove save after an odd-man rush.
"We were ok today, we have to be very good tomorrow night," said
Keith Allain '80, Yale's Malcolm G. Chace Head Coach. "Ok is not going to get it done. We'll see what happens tomorrow."
The Elis and Dutchmen meet again Saturday night at 7. If Yale takes the second game, the two school play the finale on Sunday at 4 p.m.
