Bulldogs Rally To Beat Tennessee at Chattanooga 3-2

Yale Fall to Army in Second Game of Day

CLEARWATER, Fla. – For the second Saturday in a row, Yale walked off with a victory. Miranda Papes' sacrifice fly scored pinch-runner Lindsay Kuss with the winning run as the Bulldogs knocked off Tennessee at Chattanooga 3-2 in their first game of the day at the Clearwater Spring Break Invitational.

Yale fell to Army 6-3 later in the day.

Annie Tarte started the winning rally with a single to right center and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Sydney Grobman reached on an error, and Giovy Webb's fielder's choice loaded the bases, setting the stage for Papes' heroics. Her fly ball to right field was deep enough to score Kuss and set off a celebration for the Bulldogs.

Nic Conway pitched a complete game and struck out nine to earn the victory in the circle.

Tarte finished with three hits, and Grobman went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Yale fell behind 2-0 before rallying to tie.

Against Army, first year Willa Ferrer went 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Bulldogs.

The Black Knights, though, seized control by scoring four runs in the first inning.

Webb had an RBI double for Yale, while Grobman and Kortney Ponce added run-scoring singles.

The Bulldogs wrap up play in Clearwater by meeting Providence on Sunday at 9 a.m.
