NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Daphne Chao, an All-New England player from The Hotchkiss School and a native of Shanghai, China, will join the Yale Women's Golf Team as the lone first year this fall.
Chao, who gets added to a roster that includes one senior, three juniors and three sophomores in 2020-21, was a three-time runner-up at the Independent School Girls' Golf Classic (Pippy O'Connor) as a four-year member of the Hotchkiss team and senior captain.
A 2018-19 All-New England Prep selection, she finished eighth at the 2019 Women's Western Amateur Championship (Royal Melbourne Country Club in Long Grove, Ill.), the oldest annual championships in women's amateur golf. Chao, who finished 10
th at the 2019 Women's Hartford Open, had five top-five and six top-10 finishes in American Junior Golf Association events.
