Fresh off a victory against Dartmouth, the Bulldogs get an opportunity to gain ground in the Ivy League standings with road matches this weekend at Princeton and Penn. Yale plays at Princeton on Friday at 7 p.m. and the next day at Penn for a 5 p.m. first serve.
The Bulldogs (10-4, 3-2 Ivy) enter the weekend winners of three of their last four matches. Yale begins a stretch of five straight Ivy League road matches.
First year setter Carly Diehl posted 52 assists, 15 digs and 10 kills in a 3-1 win against the Big Green and earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week. Diehl became just one of three first-years in the nation to accomplish the feat and it marked the second straight week a Bulldog won the honor after Mila Yarich won the award.
Tiffany Pedersen-Henry led the way on the attack with 17 kills in the victory against Dartmouth and was recognized with a spot on the conference's weekly honor roll. Bonnie Bostic added 13, Fatima Samb contributed 11 and Kathryn Attar had 10. Maile Somera paced the Bulldogs with 23 digs, Diehl had 15 and Ellis DeJardin added 12.
Additional notes heading into the weekend:
- The Bulldogs will play their next five matches on the road.
- Carly Diehl leads the Ivy League with a .463 hitting percentage in conference matches. She also ranks second in service aces (with teammate Maile Somera) and fourth in assists.
- Yale ranks second in the Ivy League in hitting percentage (.246), service aces (1.75/set) and digs (16.70/set).
- Bonnie Bostic continues to lead the Bulldogs with 142 kills this season.
- Bonnie Bostic, Tiffany Pedersen-Henry, Fatima Samb and Audrey Leak all average at least two kills per set in league play.
- Sam Bray leads the team with 24 total blocks.
Scouting Princeton
The Tigers (11-2, 5-0 Ivy) enter the week tied for first in conference standings with Brown. Elena Montgomery and Avery Luoma are both average 3.71 kills per set and are tied for second in the conference. Additionally, Lindsey Kelly leads the conference with 11.47 assists per set. The two teams will play again on Saturday, November 6.
Scouting Penn
The Quakers (5-9, 2-3 Ivy) enter the weekend having won two of their last three. Penn is 4-1 at home this season and ranks second in the conference in blocks per set. Daniela Fornaciari is second in the conference in blocks per set.
