Bulldogs Seek to Extend Five-Game Unbeaten Streak

First Ivy Road Game Brings Yale to Penn

Gelber Lemus
Yale is off to a strong start in Ivy League play, unbeaten in its first three games. All three of those games have been in the friendly confines of Reese Stadium. The Bulldogs are now set to take their show on the road, traveling to Penn on Saturday. Kickoff at Rhodes Field in Philadelphia is slated for 7 p.m.

Here are notes on an important Ivy League matchup:

* Yale is unbeaten in its last five games, yielding only three goals during the stretch. Two of the games came against nationally ranked opponents – No. 4 New Hampshire (1-1 draw) and No. 19 Cornell (1-0 victory).

* The Bulldogs have not allowed a goal in three Ivy League games.

* Yale's losses have come to Akron (No. 22 RPI), Villanova (No. 36 RPI), UConn and UMass. The four have a combined record of 26-13-5.

* Paolo Carroll, who has had a hand in Yale's last four goals (scored three, primary assist on other), is second in the Ivy League with 17 points and tied for second with seven goals.

* Goalkeeper Elian Haddock, the reigning Ivy League Player of the Week, leads the league with four shutouts and is third in saves (42) and save percentage (.764).

* Kahveh Zahiroleslam earned his second Ivy League Rookie of the Week honor on Monday after scoring the game-winning goal in the 1-0 win over Cornell. Zahiroleslam is tied for ninth in the league with four goals.

* The Bulldogs' last win over Penn came in 2012, 2-1 at Reese Stadium. The Quakers handed Yale its only league loss during the Bulldogs' 2019 Ivy championship season, 1-0 in overtime in Philadelphia.

SCOUTING PENN

The Quakers (7-3-2, 1-1-1 Ivy) have won three straight games and are unbeaten in their last four. Last Saturday Penn used a goal from first year Stas Korzeniowski to knock off Dartmouth in overtime. The Quakers have allowed the first goal but come back to win in each of their last three games, including a 2-1 victory over Temple on Tuesday. Ten different Quakers have at least one goal on the season.
