GAME DAY CENTRAL
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale Women's Hockey Team, which received two votes in this week's uscho.com National Poll, opened the season last weekend by outscoring opponents a combined 15-0 while getting a pair of victories. The competition is much stronger this weekend as ECAC Hockey play begins and No. 8 Quinnipiac (6-0-2) and Princeton (0-0-0) come to Ingalls Rink.
BULLDOGS
Yale opened at home with an 8-0 win over St. Anselm before taking a 7-0 game at Sacred Heart the next night. Junior forward
Claire Dalton is coming off a three-goal, six-point weekend, while classmates
Rebecca Vanstone, who had three goals, and
Charlotte Welch (0-4-4) had productive outings. So did sophomore
Elle Hartje, who hit the net twice and had four points. The Elis had goals from nine and points from 15 different players last week, making senior
Gianna Meloni and first-year
Pia Dukaric winners in goal.
TIGERS
Princeton opened its season with an exhibition game against the PHF Metropolitan Riveters, a 2-1 win for the professionals. Friday's game at the Whale is the first regular-season action for the Tigers.
BOBCATS
Quinnipiac swept weekends with Maine, LIU and St. Anselm before skating to a pair of ties with Providence. Sadie Peart and Alexa Hoskin have a team-high six goals, while Peart leads the team with 13 points. The netminding duties have been shared by Corinne Schroeder (3-0-1, 0.74 GAA), Logan Angers (3-0-1, 1.46) and Catie Boudiette (0-0-0, 3.00).Â
