Mila Yarich blasted a season-best 20 kills and the Bulldogs set an Ivy League mark with 12 aces to sweep Columbia and earn their fourth straight victory. The scores of the sets were 25-17, 25-17 and 25-20.
With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 14-5 overall and 7-3 in league play. Yale closed out its five-match road trip with a 4-1 mark.
"We were road warriors this weekend," Yale head coach
Erin Appleman said. "We had a lot of people step up. Mila did an incredible job the last two nights, and our defense has been really good."
Yarich set the tone for the Bulldogs with seven kills in the first set, while
Ellis DeJardin had six digs. DeJardin finished with a team-high 12 digs, while
Maile Somera had 10 -- her eighth straight match in double figures.
The Bulldogs also got it done at the service line.
As a team, the Bulldogs set an Ivy League season-high with 12 aces in a three-set match. DeJardin (5 aces) and
Cara Shultz (4 aces) finished with season-highs in service aces.
Bonnie Bostic reached double figures in kills for the 11th time this year with 10 and hit .409.
Fatima Samb and
Zoie Stewart both had two blocks for the Bulldogs.
Yale returns to New Haven next weekend for its first home matches since October 9. The Bulldogs host Penn on Friday and Princeton for senior night on Saturday.
