Last Game
Yale (1-0, 0-0 Ivy League) opened the 2021-22 season with a 63-57 win at Providence Tuesday evening. The Bulldogs were within seconds of a victory in regulation before a Friars buzzer-beater tied the game 50-50 and forced the extra session. Yale took control early in OT, with five points in the first 90 seconds from sophomore guard Klara Astrom (Menlo Park, Calif.). She and sophomore guard Jenna Clark (Pittsburgh, Pa.) finished with a team-high 14 points.

Astrom Establishes New High
Sophomore guard Klara Astrom (Menlo Park, Calif.) has already bested her season-high in points from her first year (13). Astrom's 14 points in the season opener at Providence included a pair of three-pointers and a six-for-six performance at the free throw line.

Cade Controls the Boards
Senior forward Alex Cade (Shaker Heights, Ohio) continues to show a knack for rebounding. She grabbed eight rebounds in 30 minutes Tuesday night at Providence, a rate of 10.7 per 40 minutes. Her rebounding rate per 40 minutes in her most recent season, 2019-20, was 8.1 (67 rebounds in 330 minutes), ranking her third on the team among players with at least 300 minutes.

She is already second on Yale's career blocks list with 118, trailing only Erica Davis '07 (182). She finished the 2019-20 season with 62 blocks, one shy of Davis' Yale single-season record. Her single-game high in blocks is five (three times in her career).
