Like so many of its Ivy League games, Yale's season finale was a defensive struggle. Unlike its other league games, the Bulldogs couldn't quite find a result. Princeton's Mateo Godoy scored the game-winning goal less than four minutes into overtime to lift the Tigers to a 1-0 victory at Class of 1952 Stadium in New Jersey.
Â
The loss brings to a close what was a successful season for a young Yale squad. The Bulldogs finished 4-1-2 in Ivy play, yielding only three goals in their seven games. Yale won seven games overall, including a 2-0 victory over Boston College and played a 1-1 draw with New Hampshire, ranked No. 3 in the nation at the time. With only one senior –
Enzo Okpoye – on the roster, the future appears very bright.

Saturday's game with Princeton, who claimed the Ivy title with a 7-0 record, was as tight as the score indicated. The Tigers had only a 9-7 edge in shots and a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Â
The Bulldogs appeared to score the first goal midway through the second half, but it was waved off when Yale was called for a hand ball.
Â
Yale goalkeeper
Elian Haddock made the only save of the game.
Â
"We are disappointed not to finish with a win and stay undefeated, but we must congratulate Princeton on a great season and running the table in the league. That's quite a feat," said
Kylie Stannard, the 5K Corral Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "I am hopeful we can use tonight and the other lessons we learned through the season as motivation to work even harder and improve further."
