NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Senior
Robert Miranda (Atherton, Calif.) of the Yale men's cross country team earned a pair of honors from the Ivy League on Tuesday as the league announced its annual awards. Miranda was named second team All-Ivy League after finishing first on the team and 10th overall at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships Saturday at West Windsor Fields in Princeton, N.J. Miranda also earned Academic All-Ivy League honors.
This is the second All-Ivy recognition of Miranda's career, as he was a first-team selection in 2019 after placing third at Heps. That same season he also received the team's Stanley-Cleary Award. This year, he has been Yale's top finisher at each race he has run -- starting with a first-place overall finish with a time of 23:36.2 at HYPs Sept. 11. He was ninth overall at the Coast to Coast Battle in Beantown Sept. 24 and second overall at the XC23 Invitational Oct. 15.
Miranda has also excelled academically. Double-majoring in mathematics and computer science, he has a 3.88 GPA. He is a member of the Yale Undergraduate Math Society and has worked as an undergraduate learning assistant.
Miranda is a graduate of Menlo High School and is in Pauli Murray College at Yale. He and the Bulldogs are preparing for the NCAA Regionals Nov. 12 at Franklin Park in Boston.
