YALE GAME NOTESÂ
Â
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale Men's Hockey Team celebrates the holiday week by hosting Vermont on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in a game airing living on ESPN+ and featuring ECAC Hockey vs. Hockey East.
Â
SERIES
The last meeting was in January of 2020 at Burlington, an OT win for the Elis. UVM has taken five of the last nine, but Yale has a 30-26-5 lead in a series that began in 1975-76.
Â
BULLDOGS
Yale, looking for its first win of the season, is coming off road losses to No. 10 Cornell and Colgate. The Elis have been battling multiple obstacles this season. One of those is trying to fill the available lineup spots at forward with recent injuries. They have played the last two weekends with eight or nine healthy forwards, including
Niklas Allain, who leads the team with two goals and four points. There is youth throughout the roster, and three new goalies are getting accustomed to collegiate hockey.
Luke Pearson,
Nathan Reid and
Connor Hopkins have had equal opportunities to compete for the top job.
Â
CATAMOUNTS
Vermont, coming off a pair of losses at home to Providence last weekend, is 1-8-1 overall and 1-4-1 in conference. The Cats, led by second-year head coach Todd Woodcroft, have a 5-4 win over Boston College and a 3-3 tie with New Hampshire.
