The Yale women's swimming and diving team made a strong statement in its season-opening meet. The Bulldogs rolled to a 201-91 victory over UConn at Wolff-Zackin Natatorium in Storrs.
Â
Yale captured 15 of the 16 events and finished 1-2-3 in seven of the events.
Â
"It was a strong performance," said
Jim Henry, the Robert J.H. Kiphuth Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "Twenty months of no competition certainly didn't yield any rust. We came out of the gates firing, and there was great energy on the bench. I'm definitely excited for the season and can't wait for the good things still to come."
Â
Iszac Henig won both the 100 and 200 freestyles for the Bulldogs, while
Ava Franks captured both 100 and 200 breaststroke.
Â
Other winners for Yale included:
Ally Bernier (1,000 freestyle),
Lindsey Wagner (100 backstroke),
Junseo Kim (200 butterfly),
Ophelia Pilkinton (50 freestyle),
Stephanie Shao (1-meter diving),
Raime Jones (200 backstroke),
Ashley Loomis (500 freestyle) and
Alex Massey (100 butterfly).
Â
The Bulldogs host Columbia next Friday at Kiphuth Pool.
