YALE GAME NOTES

The Yale Men's Hockey Team closes out 2021with a trip to Milwaukee and a pair of games in the Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off at Fiserv Forum. The Bulldogs face Wisconsin on Tuesday, Dec. 28, at 8:30 ET in a semifinal airing live on MSG+, Bally Sports North/Bally Sports Wisconsin and BTN+, while Bowling Green (8-5-3) and No. 16 Providence (14-7-0) square off a few hours prior.

SERIES
The Blue is 2-7-2 (1-1-2 in Showdowns) against Wisconsin in a series dating to 1973-74. Bowling Green has won three of the four meetings with Yale, including the last encounter, a 4-1 game at Milwaukee in the Badger Showdown. Providence, which beat Yale 3-1 at New Haven in 2017, has a 17-12 edge in its series with the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs and Friars have never met in a tournament.

BULLDOGS
Yale has won three of its last four games after a 4-3 win at home over Brown on Dec. 10. The Elis, who had nine skaters with collegiate experience entering the season, needed the break for exams to get healthy after playing much of the first 10 games with only eight forwards and using three first-season goalies. Niklas Allain, a sophomore forward playing his first season, leads the team with four goals and seven points. His captain, senior defenseman, Graham Lillibridge has three goals. Sophomore goalie Nathan Reid, who stopped 23 shots to get the win against the Bears in Yale's last game, has a 2.98 goals against and has been in net for all three of the wins.

BADGERS
Wisconsin (5-12-1, 3-7-0 Big Ten) is coming off a split with Penn State at home on Dec. 10-11. The Badgers beat the Lions 4-1 before PSU got revenge with a 5-4 OT win. Their other wins have come against Army (twice), Michigan and Minnesota. A couple of senior forwards, Brock Caufield (4-7-11) and Tarek Baker (5-5-10), are leading the UW offense this year. Junior Jared Moe (2.62, .926) has most of the time in net, while sophomore Cameron Rowe (3.74, .868) has had the rest.

YALE IN THE BADGER STATE
The Elis have some recent history of holiday tournaments in Wisconsin. The last time the Bulldogs skated in Wisconsin, they beat Ferris State 6-1 and then tied the Badgers 2-2 in the 2010 Badger Showdown Championship Game at Madison. Andrew Miller and Brian O'Neill had goals, Tom Dignard (2), Denny Kearney and Mark Arcobello had assists in the OT draw featuring a pair of top 10 teams. Yale's last appearance at Milwaukee was the 1998 Badger Showdown at the Bradley Center, where the Elis beat Wisconsin 4-2 and then fell to Bowling Green in the Championship contest.

STARTING NEW YEAR
Nineteen hours is all the Bulldogs wait to get things started in the new year. Yale hosts Merrimack from Hockey East at 7 p.m. on New Year's Day at Ingalls Rink.
