Teddy Wooding found the net with 2:06 left in overtime to give the Yale Men's Ice Hockey Team a 3-2 win over Union at Messa Rink and a conference road sweep.
Wooding picked off a breakout pass by the Dutchmen and then flicked it past Union netminder Connor Murphy.
The Bulldogs, who got five out of a possible six points while running their unbeaten streak to three games, overcame a 1-0 deficit in the second period with two tallies by
Ian Carpentier, who finished with four goals and five points this weekend.
Union tied the game in the third to force the extra session and had many chances to win it in regulation, but rookie goalie
Luke Pearson came up with many big stops down the stretch to finish with 33 saves and his first collegiate victory.
"It was an outstanding effort from the guys and we were rewarded with a sweep on the road," said
Keith Allain '80, Yale's Malcolm G. Chace Head Coach. "It was fantastic to see
Luke Pearson earn his first college win in goal, he was rock solid all night."
The Bulldogs are next in action a week from today at CT Ice in Bridgeport, Conn., where they will face UConn in a semifinal game airing live on SNY.
