NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The No. 5 Bulldogs started their weekend slate off with an impressive 6-3 victory against the No. 3 Tigers. Yale is now 7-0 on the season and 4-0 in Ivy play.
Three Elis,
No. 4 Siow Yee Xian,
No. 5 Maxwell Orr, and
No. 9 Eric Kim, swept their opponents on the afternoon.
No. 2 Nadav Raziel and
No. 6 Brian Leonard notched key victories late in the contest that tipped the scale in Yale's favor. Raziel, who surrendered his first two games to opponent Karim Elbarbary, came back to win three straight games in a match that lasted nearly an hour and a half. Leonard, who has yet to lose a match all season, outlasted his opponent Duncan Joyce in a hard-fought, four-game match.
"This was a huge win for our men's team," said
Lynn Leong, Brooks G. Ragen Director of Squash at Yale. "Everyone played extremely well against a higher-ranked opponent. We will look to replicate this performance tomorrow against Penn, who sits atop the rankings."
Yale hopes to remain undefeated when it faces top-ranked Penn tomorrow at noon at the Brady Center.
