The Yale men's fencing team saved its best performance at the Philadelphia Invitational for the end. The Bulldogs, ranked No. 10 in the United States Fencing Coaches Association national poll, topped seventh-ranked Penn 16-11 in the last of five bouts on the day.

Against the Quakers, Yale won the foil and saber 5-4 and took the epee 6-3.

The Bulldogs were fencing for the first time since the Dec. 5 Brandeis Invitational after their trip to the Penn State Dual Series was canceled last weekend.

Yale opened the day with an 18-9 loss to No. 1 Notre Dame. The Bulldogs then threw a scare into No. 3 Ohio State before dropping a 15-12 decision. Yale also lost 15-12 to NYU and was beaten 21-6 by No. 3 Princeton.

Next up for the Bulldogs is the Ivy League Round Robin on Feb. 12-13.
