Home Finale, Senior Day Coming Up Saturday vs. No. 24 Penn

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale field hockey team plays its final home game of the season Saturday, hosting No. 24 Penn at noon (ESPN+, International Stream, Live Stats). It is also Senior Day.

SENIOR SALUTE
The Bulldogs will honor their five seniors prior to Saturday's game. This group has been a part of 33 wins since the start of the 2018 season, the second-most by a Yale class in the last nine years – and they have three games remaining. They have also helped Yale Field Hockey earn the NFHCA National Academic Team Award each season of their careers. The five of them have combined for 14 NFHCA National Academic Squad selections.
LAST GAME
Yale (7-7, 1-3 Ivy League) edged Lafayette 1-0 at Johnson Field last Sunday. Amidst a scrum in front of the Leopards' goal during a Yale penalty corner at 25:28, sophomore forward Lily Ramsey (Summit, N.J.) knocked in her third goal of the season – and it wound up being her second game-winning goal. Junior goalkeeper Luanna Summer (St. Louis, Mo.) and the Yale defense shut down Lafayette the rest of the way. The Bulldogs finished with 19 shots, their second-most of the season.

TAKING ON TOP TEAMS
Five of Yale's opponents from this season are currently ranked in the NFHCA Poll:
  • No. 10 Princeton
  • No. 15 Harvard
  • No. 20 UMass
  • No. 22 UAlbany
  • No. 24 Penn
The Bulldogs are one of five teams to have held No. 20 UMass to one goal or fewer this season.

HOME SWEET HOME
Saturday marks Yale's final home game for 2022, wrapping up a stretch of six home games in a seven-game span. The Bulldogs are 15-6 in their last 21 home games, dating back to Oct. 19 of 2019.

SISTERS AND RIVALS
Saturday pits Yale sophomore forward Julia Freedman (Greenwich, Conn.) against her twin sister, Sophie, who is a midfielder for Penn. Julia has started all 14 games this season, scoring her first career goal. Sophie has appeared in all 12 games and started the last six. She has one goal and one assist. The Freedmans were teammates this past summer, helping the U.S. win gold at the Maccabiah Games. They also played together in high school at Greenwich Academy. Their parents are both Ivy Leaguers – their mother attended Cornell and their father played ice hockey for Dartmouth.

DILLMAN AMONG IVY LEADERS
Senior midfielder Théodora Dillman (Lancaster, Pa.) enters the weekend tied for sixth in the Ivy League with six goals and tied for ninth in the Ivy League with 13 points. She is a three-time All-Ivy honoree, having earned second team All-Ivy League twice and honorable mention All-Ivy League once. Last season she was fifth in the league in points (24, a career high) and tied for fifth in goals (nine, a career high).
