Yale (6-4, 1-1 Ivy League) worked overtime for the third time in four games last Sunday,
topping Quinnipiac 2-1 on a penalty corner goal by senior midfielder
Théodora Dillman (Lancaster, Pa.) with 2:59 left in the first overtime. It was her second OT game-winner in 10 days – Dillman had scored the game-winner 33 seconds into overtime in Yale's game at Brown Sept. 23.
TAKING ON THE BEST
This weekend marks the end of a stretch of three ranked opponents in four games for Yale. The Bulldogs played No. 8 Princeton last Friday.
DILLMAN KEEPS SCORING
Senior midfielder
Théodora Dillman (Lancaster, Pa.) has scored at least one goal in four straight games. Two of those goals have been game-winners. For the season she is fifth in the Ivy League in goals (six) and points (6-1-13).
BARLOW ON A STREAK TOO
Sophomore forward
Ellie Barlow (Dunmow, Essex, England) has an assist in four straight games. She also scored a goal in that span, giving her a total of six points (1-4-6). She is tied for eighth in the Ivy League in assists this year with four.
50 YEARS OF WOMEN'S VARSITY ATHLETICS AT YALE
Yale will have two home field hockey games on the weekend that Yale Athletics celebrates 50 years of women's varsity athletics.
That celebration takes place Oct. 14-16.
SCOUTING No. 15 HARVARD
No. 15 Harvard (7-3, 1-0 Ivy League) had a six-game winning streak snapped with a 1-0 loss to No. 10 Saint Joseph's Sunday. The Crimson are third in the nation in goals-against average (0.87), with goalie Ellie Shahbo ranked No. 2 individually (0.80). Her .789 save percentage ranks 12th.
SCOUTING No. 18 UMASS
No. 18 UMass (9-2, 3-0 Atlantic 10), which plays at Saint Joseph's Friday, brings a five-game winning streak into the weekend. The Minutewomen rank No. 17 nationally in scoring average (2.69 goals per game) and their only losses have been to nationally ranked teams (then-No. 1 Northwestern, 4-1 Aug. 29, and then-No. 6 Iowa, 2-0 Sept. 11).
