NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- For the third time in four seasons, the Bulldogs are Ivy League champions.
Yale swept Harvard and also clinched the top seed in next weekend's Ivy League Volleyball tournament. As the no. 1 seed, the Bulldogs will host the single-elimination tournament on Friday and Saturday.
The scores of tonight's match were 25-11, 25-12, and 25-20. With the win, the Bulldogs completed the regular season 21-2 overall, 13-1 in Ivy play and a 10-0 home mark.
"We played very high-level volleyball tonight," Yale head coach
Erin Appleman, who has led the Bulldogs to 11 Ivy League titles. "And we did it right from the start. I was very proud of our effort."
Yale hit .393 in the first set, jumped out to a 12-5 lead and never looked back.
Gigi Barr had 11 kills on 16 swings with only one error for a .625 hitting percentage.
Audrey Leak and
Cara Shultz led the way with 12 kills each. Leak hit .450 and Shultz hit .400.
The Bulldogs held a 13-4 edge in service aces, led by Shultz who had four in the match.
Bella Chan and
Mila Yarich both had three aces.
