Hartje Tips Game-Winner; Bulldogs Edge No. 11 Penn State in Overtime

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Elle Hartje tipped in the game-winning goal with 29 seconds remaining in overtime to help the Yale women's hockey team edge Penn State, 2-1. With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 6-0-0 overall, while the Nittany Lions fell to 10-7-1 overall.

How It Happened
  • After a scoreless first period, Jordan Ray broke the deadlock on the powerplay at the 4:31 mark of the second period. Ray skated from the defensive zone, dodged a defender before lasering a shot past the Nittany Lions' netminder.
  • With 2:25 to play in the third period, Penn State netted the equalizer, which eventually sent the game to overtime.
  • Yale had a 5-on-3 advantage in the late stages of overtime. With 29 seconds remaining, the Bulldogs set up a play in the zone as Emma Seitz slid a pass over to Vita Poniatovskaia at the right faceoff dot. Poniatovskaia fired a shot on net that Elle Hartje tipped in to win it for Yale.
  • Pia Dukaric was fantastic in goal as the sophomore pitched a 27-save performance en route to the Bulldogs' sixth-straight victory.
