Women's Hockey Set to Face Boston University in Las Vegas

The Yale women's hockey team will spend the Thanksgiving holiday out west when they travel to Las Vegas for the Henderson Collegiate Hockey Showcase featuring the Bulldogs, Boston University, Minnesota, and Penn State. Yale kicks off the weekend against BU on Friday, Nov. 25. The winners from Friday will then go head-to-head in game two on Saturday, while the losers will square off in game one of the day.
 
Note: There will be no broadcast for Friday's contest against Boston University and live video is pending for Yale's game on Saturday. Stay tuned for updates.

Bulldog Bytes
  • Yale (6-0-0, 4-0-0 ECAC) has put together strong performances in the early parts of the season with four wins over three nationally ranked programs.
  • Jordan Ray and Anna Bargman have been key contributors to the Bulldogs' early success this season. Both have four goals, four assists and are plus-5 on the ice. Ray has registered a point in every game so far this season, while Bargman has two game-winners.
  • Vita Poniatovskaia has made her mark early on. The sophomore is an anchor on the defense, but has also provided an offensive presence with two goals, four assists and is a plus-9. 
  • Elle Hartje continues to etch her name into the Yale program records. The junior has one goal and five assists this season. The five assists put her at 54 career assists, which is tied for sixth in program history.
  • Pia Dukaric has shined through the first six games. The sophomore has started all six games, has two shutouts, a .969 save percentage and a .82 goals against average.
     
Milestone Tracker
  • Claire Dalton is chasing 100 career points. Dalton enters the weekend sitting at 99 and needs just one point to become the third player in program history to reach 100.
  • Charlotte Welch is also 10 points away from reaching 100 career points.

Last Meeting with Boston
Yale took the last meeting between the two sides. Rebecca Vanstone and Anna Bargman led the offensive charge, helping the Bulldogs to a 3-2 victory on Dec. 8, 2021. Pia Dukaric made 17 saves en route to her fourth win of the season.
 
Recent History
There have been eight meetings to date between the Bulldogs and Terriers. BU holds the historical edge over Yale, 5-2-1.
 
Scouting the Terriers
  • Boston (6-8-0, 5-7-0 HEA) has won their last three games, all against nationally ranked opponents. They defeated then-No. 13 Vermont, 4-3, in overtime on Nov. 12 before taking down then-No. 12 UConn, 2-1 and 5-2, on Nov. 18 and Nov. 19.
  • Julia Nearis is the team-leader in goals with six, points (14), and is tied for a team-leading eight assists. Nearis had a goal and two assists, including assisting on the game-winner, in their win over Vermont.
  • Lacey Martin is another solid contributor with three goals and eight assists, which is good for second on the team in points (11).
  • The Terriers have split their starting spot in goal between Andrea Brandli and Callie Shanahan. Brandli has started eight games and has a 9.44 save percentage, 1.87 goals against average, and two shutouts. Shanahan has a .901 save percentage and a 3.33 goals against average.
  • BU is 1-1 against ECAC opponents this season. The squad defeated RPI, 4-0, on Oct. 7 and fell to Union, 3-1, on Oct. 8.

Up Next
Following their trip out west, the Bulldogs return home to host No. 9 Cornell and No. 6 Colgate on Dec. 2 and Dec. 3, respectively.
