Six Bulldogs Score as Yale Downs Union

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Six different players registered goals as the Yale women's hockey team took down Union, 6-1, at Ingalls Rink. The win puts Yale at 10-1-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the ECAC heading into the holiday break, while the Dutchwomen fell to 8-8-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the conference.

How It Happened
  • It was a storybook moment for senior Tabea Botthof, who just 11 seconds into the game, pinched in from the point and had the puck ricochet off her stick and into the back of the net to put Yale up one.
  • At the 10:01 mark of the first period, Naomi Boucher came around the net and made a heads-up pass to Olivia Muhn, who one-timed a beauty for the two-goal lead.
  • Charlotte Welch gave Yale a three-goal lead on the penalty kill. The senior stole the puck from a Union defender in the neutral zone and went in for the breakaway and the backhanded goal.
  • In the second period, Claire Dalton started the next cycle for the Bulldogs. Dalton, skating towards the outside of the zone, dropped a pass for Sylvia Bojarski. Bojarski skated along the goal line, dodged a Union defender and made a silky backhanded shot into the back of the net.
  • Boucher, who assisted Muhn's goal, got in on the scoring frenzy in the third period. Kiersten Goode passed the puck up to Emma DeCorby at the point. DeCorby fired a shot on goal through traffic and Boucher cleaned up the loose puck in front to give Yale a five-goal lead.
  • At 12:04 of the third period, Avery Chesek lit the lamp herself. Chesek chased down a puck in the offensive zone and ripped a shot top shelf to give Yale a six-goal lead.
  • Union got on the board with 4:20 remaining in the game.
