NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's swimming and diving team will take a bunch of positive momentum into its break for exams and the holidays. The Bulldogs defeated Southern Connecticut in its final meet of 2022. The swimming events were held at Yale's Kiphuth Pool, while the diving was at Southern.
Noah Millard had another strong performance for the Bulldogs. He set a pool record in the 400 individual medley, posting a time of 3:48.38. The previous mark was 3:48.51 set by Yale's Kei Hyogo in 2017.
Millard also captured the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:52.53.
Jack Maketa and
Connor Lee were also double winners. Maketa captured the 100 freestyle in 46.98 and the 1000 free in 10:01.90. Lee won the 100 breaststroke in 57.70 and the 50 freestyle in 20.91.
Other winners at Kiphuth Pool were
Alexander Hazlett (100 backstroke),
Conner Kang (200 backstroke),
Jed Jones (200 breaststroke),
Jose Cano (100 butterfly) and
Jack O'Connor (200 IM).
Yale also had the top two finishing teams in the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay.
In diving at Southern,
Nicholas Chau won the 1-meter event, and
Ray Wipfli was the 3-meter winner.
The Bulldogs are now off until Jan. 10-11 when they race Cornell in Ithaca, N.Y.
