PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — No. 4 Yale defeated No. 5 Princeton in round one of the CSA National Championships, also known in the top division as the Potter Cup Tournament, this afternoon. This is the Bulldogs' second victory this season against the Tigers.
No. 7 Eric Kim and
No. 3. Max Forster notched the first victories of the afternoon for the Elis, with Kim prevailing in a hard-fought, four-game match that included a 19-17 score on game two. Forster outlasted his opponent in a five-game, 66-minute match.
The next two victories game from
No. 2 Nadav Raziel, who swept his opponent in under 30 minutes, and
No. 8 Jed Burde who won in four-games.
No. 9 Nikhil Ismail sealed the victory for Yale with a 3-0 victory and
No. 4 Siow Yee Xian swept his opponent to give the team its sixth win.
Yale competes in the second round against top-ranked Penn tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. Penn defeated Yale 7-2 in their regular-season match in January.
