RESULTS
Cambridge, Mass. – The Yale University women's swimming & diving wrapped up competition at the 2022 Ivy League Championships at Blodgett Pool on Saturday night, and the Bulldogs took home more podium finishes and major awards as Yale finished second overall at the event.
In addition to several more podium finishes and a meet record, the Bulldogs closed with a special award as senior captain
Ashley Loomis earned the Ivy League's award for highest point total earned in a career.
"I am absolutely thrilled about the team's performance over the past four days. Across the board, from every class, from every stroke and every dive, there has been improvement every day," said
Jim Henry, Robert J.H. Kiphuth Head Coach of Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving. "The great leadership of our senior class and the tireless effort of our coaching put us in this position of success while we await NCAA selections."
It was Loomis who started the Bulldogs off in finals events as she placed fourth overall in the 1650 free, the longest event of the championships, with a time of 16:36.57.
The Bulldogs followed with a 2-3 finish in the 200 backstroke as
Alex Massey and
Quinn Murphy finished with times of 1:57.39 and 1:57:42, respectively.
Yale put three swimmers in the 100 free final as
Lindsey Wagner took seventh at 48.89 and
Ophelia Pilkinton finished fifth at 49.67.
Iszac Henig came home with the silver and broke a meet record in the prelims at 47.80 and did it again in the finals with an NCAA B-Cut at 47.82.
In the 200 breaststroke, two Bulldogs made the podium as
Ava Franks took second overall with NCAA B-Cut of 2:12.79 while
Olivia Paoletti took half a second off her seed time to finish seventh at 2:15.87.
Yale double-dipped in the 200 butterfly as well as Massey made her second podium of the night with a bronze and an NCAA B-Cut at 1:48.72. She was joined by
Junseo Kim who took seventh at 1:59.92.
The Bulldogs closed the night with a bronze in the 400 free relay as Pilkinton, Wagner,
Vivian Weng and Franks touched the wall in 3:19.71.
Next up for Yale are next weekend's ECAC Championships in Annapolis, Md.
