PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Bulldogs defeated the Columbia 8-1 in the final round of the Potter Cup Tournament this afternoon to finish third in the CSAs. This is Yale's best finish since winning the tournament in 2016.
The Elis were impressive up and down the lineup this afternoon, with particularly strong wins coming from
No. 4 Siow Yee Xian,
No. 7 Eric Kim, and
No. 9 Nikhil Ismail. All three athletes won five-game matches that exceeded an hour. Ismail's match was 88 minutes—the longest match from any athlete all season—and ended with a 20-18 score in the final game.
No. 2 Nadav Raziel,
No. 3 Max Forster,
No. 6 Brian Leonard, and
No. 8 Jed Burde all swept their opponents in three games. Burde had an especially dominant performance, holding his opponent to six points total and winning in under 30 minutes.
With an impressive season now under their belt, the Elis turn their attention to the CSA Individual Championships, which take place from Friday, March 4 to Sunday, March 6.
