NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Grace Lee re-directed a shot into the back of the net with 23.6 seconds left in the third period to give the No. 7 Yale Women's Ice Hockey Team a 3-2 win over Union at Ingalls Rink.
Lee's tally, off a wild scramble in front of the Union net, completed a comeback from a 2-0 deficit midway through the contest. The goal was also significant because it gave the Bulldogs a fourth straight win and broke the program's season record for goals with 97. It also helped the Elis tie the school record for conference wins while moving them into first place in the ECAC standings.
"Elle (Hartje) put it to the net, Claire (Dalton) was already there battling and the puck bounced out. Luckily it was headed toward the net and I got a piece of it," said Lee, whose third goal of the season was one of the biggest of the year for the Elis. "It felt like it was a huge weight off our shoulders, it was not our best game, but we had resilience and came through at the end."
Elle Hartje, who had a goal to tie the game at 10:24 of the third, got an assist on the game-winner and broke the Yale season record with 29.
The Dutchwomen, who rebounded from a 7-0 loss at home to the Elis on Saturday, scored twice in the first half of the second period.
