CHERRY HILL, N.J. – Yale women's crew, ranked No. 4 in the nation, continued its hot start to the season. At the Ivy-Big Ten Double Dual on the Cooper River, the Bulldogs swept Iowa and Michigan State, winning all races convincingly despite windy conditions.
 
"It was a solid effort by all our crews," said Will Porter, the Friends of YWC Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "We did a good job of dealing with the conditions and focusing on our own race elements."
 
Iowa was the first opponent, and Yale cruised to victory in the varsity eight, finishing with a time of 6:21.3 to Iowa's 6:41.7.
 
The Bulldogs had an even larger margin of victory in the second varsity eight. Yale finished in 6:29.0, while the Hawkeyes came in at 6:57.3.
 
The Bulldogs were also an easy winner the varsity four – 7:08.8 to 7:36.8.
 
Yale had the top two finishers in the second varsity four and was a winner in the third varsity eight.
 
Against Michigan State later in the morning, the Bulldogs posted a nearly 30-second victory in the varsity eight – 6:20.3 to 6:50.2.
 
In the second varsity eight, Yale posted a time of 6:32.3 to Michigan's State's 7:07.2. Yale's third varsity eight placed third in 7:19.1 but ran into some hidden debris near the finish line, which resulted in a slower time.
 
"That was a tough break for our third varsity," Porter said.
 
The Bulldogs had the top three finishers in the varsity four as Yale's A, C and B crews all finished ahead of the Spartans.
 
Yale races Columbia, Penn and Dartmouth next Saturday in Overpeck, N.J.
