FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Carmen Muscolina continued the Yale softball team's recent power surge. Muscolina homered leading off the second inning, but the Bulldogs dropped a 9-1 decision at Fairfield.
Muscolina's blast was her second in the past four games and Yale's ninth during that stretch. It gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. The Stags, though, tied it with a run in the bottom of the second and then scored eight times in the third to seize control.
Carolyn Skotz, Grayson Vives and
Lauren Perren also had hits for Yale.
The Bulldogs return home to host a three-game series with Brown this weekend. The two teams play a doubleheader on Saturday followed by a single game on Sunday. The first is slated for 12:30 p.m. on both days.
