NEW HAVEN, Conn. –
Yale women's crew excelled in the non-conference portion of the schedule. Now the Bulldogs turn their attention to Ivy League competition. Yale heads to Overpeck Park in New Jersey to face Columbia, Penn and Dartmouth on Saturday. The first race of the day is set for 9:35 a.m. with the varsity eights facing off at 10:15 a.m.

"This will be a tough test for us," said Will Porter, The Friends of YWC Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "We are doing a day trip, leaving very early and rowing in cold weather against a headwind on a course we have never raced on without any practice. I look forward to seeing how we respond."

The Bulldogs will be racing for two cups. The winner of the Yale-Dartmouth varsity eight wins the Class of 1985 Cup, while the overall points winner between Yale, Columbia and Penn captures the Connell Cup.

Another strong performance last weekend in victories over Iowa and Michigan State has vaulted Yale to No. 2 in the weekly CRCA national rankings. The Bulldogs trail only the University of Texas, which received 23 of the 25 first-place votes. No. 5 Stanford received the other two first-place votes.

Penn, which opened its spring season last week at the Doc Hosea Invitational, is ranked No. 16. Columbia, which also competed at the Doc Hosea Invitational, is receiving votes in the national poll. Dartmouth competed for the first time this spring at the Doc Hosea Invitational as well.
