HENLEY-ON-THAMES, England – It was a strong start to the Henley Royal Regatta for Yale women's crew. The Bulldogs advanced both a pair and an eight with convincing victories.
The Yale pair of
Katie King-Smith and
Lucy Edmunds easily defeated a duo from the United Kingdom's Hereford Rowing Club. The Bulldogs posted a time of 8:54. Yale is competing for the The Hambleden Challenge Cup.
The Yale eight cruised to a 3.25-length victory over the University of British Columbia, finishing with a time of 7:04. The Bulldogs are racing for the The Island Challenge Cup.
"It was great to get started racing today," said
Will Porter, The Friends of YWC Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "Tomorrow will be a challenge, and we look forward to the chance to go again."
Yale's pair races the United States team of M. Musnicki and J. Morrison on Friday at 2:35 p.m. England time.
The Yale eight faces the University of Washington at 4 p.m. England time on Friday.
