Brown is Yale's Top Finisher at HYP

BOSTON -- The Yale men's cross country team opened the 2022 season in Franklin Park Saturday morning with the annual Harvard-Yale-Princeton tri meet. The meet provided a great "rust-busting" opportunity for the team and was a great way to test current fitness. Princeton won the meet with a total of 29 points and Harvard sophomore Graham Blanks won the individual title with a time of 17:39.3 for 6k. The Bulldogs earned third place in the team score and will look to improve throughout the season as they approach the Ivy League Championships.

Leading the Bulldogs through the line was senior captain Cade Brown. Brown placed fifth at HYP in 2018 and won the meet in 2019. Saturday he ran 18:13.3 for ninth and proved that he has a very exciting season ahead. Coming in second for Yale was sophomore Varun Oberai, who earned 12th with a time of 18:22.1. First year Braden King made quite the collegiate debut with a 15th place finish at his first HYP. Rounding out the top 7 were senior Richard Sturtevant, first year Kenan Pala, sophomore Leo Brewer and junior Sean Kay

The Bulldogs will be back at Franklin Park in two weeks for the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown.
