The Yale men's hockey team is set to host No. 9 Harvard and Dartmouth this weekend at Ingalls Rink. Longtime rival Harvard makes it way to New Haven on Friday, Jan. 20 before the Big Green arrives on Saturday, Jan. 21. Both contests will be streamed on ESPN+ and for international viewing on Stretch Internet.

Bulldog Bytes
  • Yale (3-10-4, 2-8-2 ECAC) went 1-0-1 last week with a 4-1 win over RPI on Jan. 13 and a 0-0 draw against Union.
  • Luke Pearson was named the ECAC Co-Goaltender of the Week for both performances. Pearson started both games, had a .980 save percentage and made 49 saves in the two-game stretch.
  • This season, the sophomore has a 2-1-4 record and a .958 save percentage.
  • David Chen is the Bulldogs' leading point getter with nine this season. The first year has four goals, including one game-winner, and five assists.
  • Dylan Herzog is leading Yale in the blocks category with 31 this season. Kieran O'Hearn has 29.
  • Bayard Hall leads the team in plus/minus with a plus-3.

Scouting Harvard
  • The Crimson (12-4-1, 10-2-0) are winners of four of their last five games.
  • The lone loss in that span came against powerhouse Quinnipiac, 4-1, on Jan. 7.
  • Sean Farrell (25 points), Alex Laferriere (23 points), and Matthew Coronato (20 points) continue to lead the Crimson offensively.
  • Mitchell Gibson has been Harvard's go-to in goal with 11 starts under his belt. The senior has a 7-3-1 record with one shutout and a .921 save percentage.
 
Last Meeting with the Crimson
Harvard blanked Yale, 4-0, in a meeting earlier this season. Alex Laferriere had a hand in three of the Crimson's four goals. Henry Thun (two assists) and Alex Gaffney (1g, 1a) were also factors in Harvard's dominance. Harvard's Mitchell Gibsson made 10 saves in goal.
 
Scouting Dartmouth
  • The Big Green (2-15-1, 1-9-1 ECAC) are 1-4 in their last five games.
  • Both of Dartmouth's wins this season were against Yale.
  • Tanner Palocsik is Dartmouth's leader in points with 12 (3g, 9a).
  • Cooper Black has started 18 games and has a .900 save percentage, 3.02 goals against average, and one shutout.

Last Meeting with the Big Green
This will be the third meeting this season between Yale and Dartmouth. Dartmouth has captured both games with the last one a 4-3 victory on New Year's Eve.

Looking Ahead
After this weekend's tilts, Yale will participate in a four-team tournament with Quinnipiac (host), UConn, and Sacred Heart. Game one is set for Friday, Jan. 27 against UConn.
