NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Bulldogs, who are off to a 5-0 start in Ivy League play, ride a six-match win streak into this weekend with home matches against Harvard and Dartmouth. 4
Yale notes heading into the weekend:
- The Bulldogs won their first two Ivy League road matches of the season with victories at Cornell and Columbia last weekend.
- Yale returns home this weekend to the friendly confines of the John J. Lee Amphitheater. The Bulldogs are 6-0 at home this season and 3-0 in conference play.
- As a team, the Bulldogs hit .294 as a team last weekend and averaged three more kills per set than their opponents.
- The Bulldogs held a 17-7 edge in service aces last weekend, and in conference play have 38 in 19 sets played. That leads the conference with an average of two aces per set.
- Yale leads the conference in kills per set (13.84), assists per set (13.05) and hitting percentage (.301) against Ivy League opponents.
- One week after being named Ivy League and National Player of the Week, Audrey Leak again led the Bulldogs in hitting last weekend. She averaged 3.86 kills per set and hit .429 in two matches. Leak, in conference matches only, leads the Ivy League with a 4.74 kills per set average and also a .434 hitting percentage.
- Mila Yarich ranks in the top 10 in Ivy League matches – kills (9th), service aces (3rd) and digs (7th).
Scouting Harvard
The Crimson are 11-3 overall and 4-1 in the Ivy League. Harvard defeated Penn and Princeton at home last weekend, and swept the conference weekly awards. Setter Ashley Wang won player of the week, while middle blocker Ryleigh Patterson won rookie of the week.
Scouting Dartmouth
The Big Green enter the weekend 3-2 in Ivy League play and 6-8 overall, and will play at Brown on Friday before coming to New Haven. Ameila Gibbs ranks second in the conference behind
Audrey Leak with a .415 hitting percentage, while Kauany Gutz ranks third with a 3.16 kills per set average.
