Yale Beats Harvard and Advances to Ivy Tournament Title Match

Bulldogs face No. 3 seed Brown Saturday at 7 p.m.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Audrey Leak posted 20 kills and Mila Yarich added six aces to lead the Bulldogs to their 16th straight win -- a 3-1 victory over No. 4 seed Harvard to secure a spot in the Ivy League Tournament championship match.  The scores were 24-26, 25-16, 25-23 and 25-11.

Match summary:
  • The Bulldogs advanced to the title match for the second straight season.  
  • Yale won the final three sets, including a late rally in the tie-breaking third set. Mila Yarich served up consecutive aces to close out the set for the 25-23 victory.
  • In the fourth set, Yale pulled away with a 15-3 run.
  • Audrey Leak reached 20 kills for the third time this season. 
  • Betsy Goodenow finished with 10 kills and nine digs.
  • Carly Diehl had a team-high 39 assists and 14 digs.
  • The Bulldogs held a 70-61 edge in digs, and held an 11-2 advantage in aces.  Tonight marked the third time this year the Bulldogs reached double-figures in aces.

Yale will face third-seeded Brown tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the John J. Lee Amphitheater.  The winner will receive the Ivy League's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
